A Night to Remember

Things To Pack When You Fly With A Pet On A Private Jet

If you're planning to take a flight and you want to travel with your family pet, you might be feeling reluctant about facing the challenges of commercial air travel. This experience can be unpleasant for pets, but there's a better option to consider. Many people book private jets when they want to fly somewhere with their pet. The big perk of doing so is that your pet will be in the cabin with you, rather than in the plane's cargo hold. If this idea interests you, you'll want to contact some private jet charter companies to learn about traveling with a pet. Additionally, you should also pack the following things.

Documentation

While the guidelines for flying with a pet can vary between private jet charter companies, you'll generally need to prepare some documentation to show before you take your flight. It's common for the company to request to see a vaccination record for your pet that reveals the animal is up to date with all of its vaccinations. If you don't have this record handy, your local veterinary clinic can provide it. Some companies will also ask for a letter from the animal's vet that indicates the pet is healthy enough to fly, particularly if it's an older animal.

Familiar Items

Your pet can sit on one of the private jet's seats if you wish, but you may want to have the animal sleep on the floor. If so, plan to pack some items that you can use to create a familiar environment for your pet. For example, you'll want to pack the pet's bed and one or more blankets that it usually uses at home. You may also want to have a couple of chew toys that can help to keep your pet entertained on the flight.

Other Items

There are a handful of other items that are useful to pack in advance of a private jet trip with your pet. While you can do your best to ensure that the pet goes to the bathroom before the flight departs, having a couple of training pads that you can place on the floor will be ideal to avoid the animal having an accident on the jet. Depending on the length of the flight, you may also want to pack food for the animal. The flight staff can provide water for the pet, but you'll want to have a bowl in which to put it.
